Preston A. Hill
ORO VALLEY, Ariz. – Preston A. Hill, 81, of Oro Valley, Ariz., passed away peacefully on Jan. 17, 2013, surrounded by his wife, daughter and grandson while under the care of hospice following a short illness.
He was born at home in Randolph, N.Y., on Dec. 14, 1930, the son of the late Clifton and Lucile Hill.
Mr. Hill attended Randolph Central School and then enlisted in the United States Navy, serving during the Korean War era. Following his military service he worked as a machinist at Art Medal Products in Jamestown, N.Y., for many years. In later years he worked for the former Borden Inc. in Randolph. After moving to Arizona he worked for many area golf courses and Smith’s Grocers in Phoenix and soon after retiring, moved to Oro Valley.
He was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars and American Legion post in Tucson. He loved to play golf and came back to Randolph for several years to spend time with his family. He especially enjoyed coming back to play in the Cardinal Hills Member-Guest annual event.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; two daughters: Barbara (Stash) Gurzinski of Randolph and Sandra (Buddy) Ramsdell of Gowanda, N.Y.; and two sons: Barry (Alice) Hill of Ellington, N.Y. and James Hill of Jamestown, N.Y. He is also survived by a sister, Ruth Dempsey of Tucson, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two children: Patricia Hill Bonovitch and Garry D. Hill; two sisters; and two brothers.
A memorial service will be held in Randolph at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed.
