CATTARAUGUS COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
SALAMANCA – Donald L. Cotter Jr., 30, of 6490 Pine Tree Road, Apt. 215, Ellicottville was charged at 5:25 a.m. on Thursday, in the town of Salamanca, with failure to maintain lane, move from lane unsafely, open alcoholic container within a vehicle, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operator, driving while intoxicated and DWI blood alcohol content over .08 percent. Cotter was found passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle in a ditch on Bucktooth Run road in the town of Salamanca. Upon initial contact and roadside field sobriety tests were done, cotter was placed under arrest and charged. He was arraigned at the Town of Salamanca Court and remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail. He will appear in the town of Salamanca Court at 7 p.m. on Monday.
CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
FREDONIA – Kevin D. Astry, 27, of Fredonia was charged at 2:13 a.m. on Sunday with driving while intoxicated-common law, DWI per se blood alcohol content .08 percent or higher and failure to stop violation. Deputies observed a vehicle fail to stop prior to the stop line at the intersection of Vineyard Drive and Central Avenue in the city of Dunkirk. Astry was found to be the operator and upon further investigation he was found to be intoxicated. He was arrested, issued traffic tickets and is to appear in city court at a later date.
JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT
John T. Seeley III, 57, of 12 Shaver St., Jamestown was charged at 8:10 p.m. on Thursday with third-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child. Jamestown Police Department officers were dispatched to 12 Shaver St. for a domestic incident. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a 7-year old female with facial injuries. Officers also made contact with Seeley, the child’s father. Upon investigation, officers determined that he had a verbal disagreement with the child and threw a book at her, striking her in the face. The child was taken to WCA Hospital for treatment for injury to her nose. Seeley was arrested and transported to City Jail without incident.
Robert B. Breth, 49, of Main Street, Falconer was charged with second-degree obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest Friday at 5:40 p.m. Jamestown police responded to a report of a disorderly male at a Barrett Avenue residence. Upon arrival, Breth intentionally obstructed officers from completing the investigation. While officers attempted to take him into custody, Breth intentionally attempted to prevent officers from doing so. He was taken to Jamestown City Jail pending arraignment.
LAKEWOOD – James M. Ormsby, 35 of 116 Water St., Jamestown was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation (driving on a suspended license, alcohol-related) and Sherell V. Baker, 55, of 2855 Donelson Road, Jamestown was charged with speed not reasonable at 9:11 a.m. on Friday. Ormsby was traveling south on Southwestern Drive and Baker was northbound. Baker crossed the center line and struck the Ormsby vehicle head-on. Both drivers were transported to WCA by the Lakewood and Busti fire departments.
