Third Quarter Key To Another Westfield Win

FORESTVILLE – As has been their calling card all season, the Westfield Wolverines (9-5, 7-1) had a huge third quarter Friday in Division 3 boys basketball.

The result was a 76-37 victory over the Forestville Hornets (3-11, 1-6).

“Every time I have seen them play, they score 20 points in the third quarter,” Forestville coach Ralph Jackson said. “They came to play in the second half and we didn’t.”

The Hornets hung tight with the Wolverines in the first half. After being outscored 19-11 in the first quarter, the home team trailed 37-24 at intermission.

Jon Coe led Westfield with 25 points – 15 in the first quarter and 10 of his team’s 22 in the third stanza.

The Wolverines received 16 points from Jacob Gray and 10 from Tanner Dahl. Dan Tofil added eight points, 10 rebounds, five assists and as many steals.

Jake Nosbisch led the Hornets with 12 points, three steals and three assists. Wayne Hartloff had five blocks.
