Teen Party Set For Thursday
KENNEDY – The Kennedy Free Library will host a tween/teen pizza party for ages 10 to 15 on the last Thursday of each month, beginning this Thursday, with scheduled activities from 5-7 p.m. The theme is Backwards Day. The library will also resume the pre-school story hour from 11 a.m. to noon each Wednesday, Feb. 13, through May 1. Children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult. Featured will be reading, light refreshments and crafts.
Rehearsals Begin Monday
Rehearsals for the last concert of Community Music Project’s subscription series, The Celebration of Song, will begin at 7 p.m. Monday in the First Presbyterian Church fellowship hall in Jamestown. The concert date is 4 p.m. Sunday, April 28. Directed by Rebecca Ryan, the Jamestown Choral Society and Chautauqua Chamber Singers will be joined by the Southwestern Central School concert choir and the Mercyhurst College choir. The performance includes movements from Vivaldi’s “Gloria”, the Mozart “Requiem”, the B minor Mass by Bach and Bernstein’s “Chitchester Psalms.” A 28-piece orchestra will accompany the chorus. Book Chat Set For Tuesday
FREWSBURG – As part of the Big Read this year, Myers Memorial Library will be having a book discussion on “Call of the Wild” by Jack London. The library has several copies remaining of the newspaper-format book. The discussion will be held Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the library’s community room. Light refreshments will be available. The library is also encouraging participation in The Big Read “Come into the Wild” contest through SUNY Fredonia. More details are available at the library. Grief Recovery Group To Meet
Heritage Ministries is sponsoring a grief recovery group, entitled GriefShare, which will meet every Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing, 3023 Route 430 in Greenhurst, in the conference room. The first session begins Friday, Feb. 1, and continues for 13 consecutive weeks through April 26. GriefShare is a weekly video seminar and support group for people who are grieving the death of someone close to them. Led by Shreffler and Haglund, GriefShare offers unique insight and support through discussion and presentations. At the weekly meetings, individuals and families can learn valuable information about recovering from grief and renewing hope for the future.
YMCA To Hold Baby-Sitting Clinic
The Jamestown YMCA will hold its next YMCA baby-sitting clinic for youth between the ages of 11 and 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Jamestown YMCA. The clinic will teach the responsibilities involved in caring for younger children including child development, safety and emergency response. The clinic is taught by experienced instructors who have knowledge in child development, health and overall care of children. Participants should bring a brown bag lunch. Space is limited.
