To Ski Friday
On Friday the Allegheny Outdoor Club will cross-country ski at the Art Roscoe Ski Area at Allegany State Park in Cattaraugus County. Participants should bring their lunch and meet at the warming hut at 10 a.m. For more information call Pat Spicer at 814-757-8331 between 9 and 11 p.m.
Watch Group To Meet Wednesday
CHERRY CREEK – The Neighborhood Watch Group of Cherry Creek will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Cherry Creek Village Hall. The public is welcome to attend.
City Senior Center To Meet Today
The Jamestown Senior Center, 525 Falconer St., Jamestown, will meet at 1 p.m. today. The meeting will include danish, coffee and a speaker.
Tom Reed To Host Open House
U.S. Rep. Tom Reed, R-Corning, will host an open house from 4-6 p.m. Friday at his new district office in the Fenton Building, 2 E. Second St., Suite 300, Jamestown. Reed and members of his staff will be available to meet with the public. For more information, call 708-6369.
To Eagle Watch
On Saturday, Allegheny Outdoor Club members will attend the annual Eagle Watch from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Big Bend Bird Viewing Platform at the Kinzua Dam Visitors Center. This will be a chance for participants to see bald eagles at the tail waters of the dam and to learn more about this once endangered species. For more information, call Bill Massa at 814-723-2568. Also on Saturday, club members will attend the annual Snowflake Festival at the Jamestown Audubon Center. Participants will meet at 2 p.m. at the trail kiosk to ski the network of trails. JCC To Host Online Courses
The online learning environment will be explored in a series of non-credit courses offered at Jamestown Community College beginning Saturday. The courses, taught online by Amber Mathews, are $39 each. To register, call JCC’s Center for Continuing Education, 338-1005. Earning An Online Education: Ins & Outs of eLearning, offered Saturday through March 1, will help participants develop skills for the online learning environment. Local environmental issues and the area’s natural attractions and resources will be explored in Chautauqua County: A Western New York Treasure from March 9 to April 9. Discussions, articles, learning objects and videos are incorporated into the course. Creating Your Online Class, offered March 11 to April 5, focuses on the activities and techniques used to create successful online course modules.
