Library To Host Winter Story Hour

CLYMER – The Clymer-French Creek Free Library will host a winter story hour from 11 a.m. to noon every Saturday in February. The story hour is intended for children between the ages of 3 and 7 and includes stories, a craft, activities and a snack. For more information, call the library at 355-8823.

YWCA To Host Feb. 14 Event

The YWCA Jamestown will host “Valentine’s Day: They Stay, You Play” from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14. Activities will include pizza, movies and games. The evening is open to children between the ages of 5 and 12 and costs $20 per child, with each additional sibling admitted for $10. Reservations are due by Feb. 8 by calling the YWCA at 488-2237. Prepayment is required with cash or a credit card. All proceeds benefit YWCA programs, including: early care and education, transitional housing, the Advantage After School Program, Teenage Education and Motherhood, young father’s program, Comprehensive Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention, Child and Adult Care Food Program and racial justice programs. The YWCA is located at 401 N. Main St., Jamestown.

JCC To Offer HR Training Course

Enrollment is under way for a human resource management training course offered in February and March at Jamestown Community College. Essentials of Human Resource Management meets from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 2, March 2 and March 23. The $599 course fee includes materials and lunch. The program, designed for individuals seeking certification as a professional or senior professional in human resources, is sponsored by JCC, the Society for Human Resource Management and the Small Business Development Center. Participants will learn how to handle challenging human resource issues and reduce potentially costly lawsuits. A class called “business basics” will give you some essential information and guidance. Learn what resources are available to help plan your business. Start with tips to evaluate the feasibility of your idea and explore financing options, marketing, record keeping and more. A local entrepreneur will also be discussing his business experiences. This seminar will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 6, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Jamestown Community College campus in the Carnahan room 123. The class fee is $10, and pre-registration is requested.
