Area Police Reports


DUNKIRK – Sonia M. Buchanan-Ruiz, 43, of 44 W. Second St., Dunkirk, was charged with misuse of SNAP/food stamps, third-degree welfare fraud and two counts of first-degree offering a false instrument for filing Thursday. According to a police report, she failed to report someone living in her home was employed, leading to her receiving $7,093.55 to which she was not entitled. She will be in Jamestown City Court later.


SOUTH VALLEY – Deven J. Dudenhoeffer, 24, of 108 Dennison Road, South Valley was charged with cruelty to animals at 5 p.m. Wednesday at his home. Deputies received a citizen’s complaint. According to a police report, Dudenhoeffer admitted to deputies he shot a dog on Jan. 11. He will be in South Valley Town Court later.

MACHIAS – David A. Smith III, 25, of Junction Road, Machias was charged and taken to the Cattaraugus County Jail Jan. 15 after a warrant was issued by Cattaraugus County Family Court. He will be in court later.

SALAMANCA – Tanya M. Woods, 29, of 53 Eagle St., Salamanca, was charged with violating her probation at 7 p.m. Wednesday after she was taken into custody by Salamanca police officers. She was taken to the Cattaraugus County Jail and will be in court later.


Jonathan J. Allen, 35, of 139 Lakecrest Ave., Lakewood was charged with failure to stay in lane, driving while intoxicated and aggravated DWI after a one-vehicle accident at 10:35 p.m. Thursday on Shadyside Avenue, Lakewood. According to police, officers were dispatched to a vehicle reported off the road and saw a vehicle pulling away from the side of the road. The vehicle was then pulled over. Allen was given a breath test which showed a blood-alcohol content of .22 percent. Allen will be in Busti Town Court later.
