Phyllis E. Urbanik

Phyllis E. Urbanik, 89, formerly of Bemus Point, N.Y., died on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, in the Wedgewood Nursing Home in Spencerport, N.Y.

She was born Nov. 16, 1923, in Jamestown, N.Y., the daughter of Albert E. and Emma Keller Anderson.

She was a graduate of Jamestown High School, and was employed as a plant accountant at the former Jamestown Tele-phone Co.

She was a member of the Bemus Point United Methodist Church and the National World War II War Museum.

She was most remembered as a very hard working, loving, caring and thoughtful person with a witty sense of humor and who was loved by all. Her true devotions were her faith, her children and grandchildren. Her hobbies included cooking, garden-ing, canning, and crossword puzzles.

Surviving are two sons: James A. (Brenda Goodwill) Urbanik of Bemus Point, and Jon W. (Becky) Urbanik of San An-tonio, Texas; three daughters: Judy M. (David) Ribbing of Ashville, N.Y., Joette A. (Ken) Abbey of Churchville, N.Y., and Jean J. (Al) Garcia of Spring, Texas; 13 grandchildren: Kari J. Pearce, Joseph J. Ur-banik II, Dane M. Urbanik, Bobbie E. Seymour, Lauren A. Edwards, Nicholas J. Ur-banik, Jill M. Houck, Dawn C. Weihrich, Kasey C. Fink, Timothy (Joey) Burns, Amber N. Ruiz, Cory J. and Nicole Urbanik; 10 great-grandchil-dren; and two daughters-in-law: Joyce Baader and Christine Urbanik.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J. Urbanik, whom she married Oct. 15, 1949, and who died on Oct. 16, 2004; and by a son, Joseph A. Urbanik, who died on Feb. 23, 1983.

A memorial service will be on Sunday, Jan. 27, at 3 p.m. in the Powers, Present & Sixbey Funeral Home, 316 E. Fifth St., Jamestown, N.Y. The Rev. Daniel McBride, pastor of the Bemus Point United Methodist Church, will officiate. A private burial will be held in the Bemus Point Cemetery.
