Cabin Fever Indoor Race Registration Begins Monday

On Saturday, March 2, Urban Cycling Performance and Exercise Studio will host the inaugural Cabin Fever Breakaway Indoor Cycling Stationary Bike Race to benefit the Winifred Crawford Dibert Boys and Girls Club of Jamestown.

The Cabin Fever Breakaway is a team event, each with up to four riders. Teams will be assigned one stationary bike and will race relay style for two hours changing riders at their team captain’s discretion with a goal of maximizing the total combined “mileage” by the team in the allotted time.

A $100 prize will be awarded for the team achieving the highest mileage during the overall event in each of the following divisions:

all-male team;

all-female team; and

co-ed team.

An additional $100 prize will be awarded to the team that achieves the overall highest mileage during the event. Giveaways for a variety of donated prizes will be held during each of the four event heats. A maximum of 15 teams will be able to participate in each of the four two-hours heats, for a total of 240 riders on 60 teams overall.

Advance registration is required. The team entry fee is $100. Teams must submit an online registration form by visiting urbancycling365.com and clicking on the Cabin Fever Breakaway registration link. All team members must be listed, with a maximum of four per team allowed, and a captain must be designated for all race communication. The $100 team fee must be paid in full at the time of online registration and must be submitted by the team captain.

Online registrations are currently being accepted at urbancycling365.com. For those without Internet access, in-person registration will be available at the Winifred Crawford Dibert Boys and Girls Club of Jamestown, 62 Allen St., Jamestown, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning Jan. 28.

Race day check-in will be one hour prior to each heat, starting at 6:30 a.m. Heats will begin promptly at 7:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Riders should check in within one hour prior to their own assigned heat. There will be one minute between each rider exchange for bike adjustments by the pit crew. Each team member must ride a minimum of 20 minutes during the two hours of racing. Team scores will be determined by the total combined miles ridden.

There are no minimum or maximum age requirements, however for safety reasons all riders must physically able to participate, must be at least 5 feet tall and must weigh less than 300 pounds. All riders registered by Feb. 22 will be guaranteed an event T-shirt.

Sponsors and donors to date include Urban Cycling Performance and Exercise Studio, Snap Fitness, Jamestown Cycle Shop, Hollyloft Ski & Bike, Evergreen Outfitters, M&T Bank, Moore & Myott LLP, Mastercuts and Salon 1. Additional event sponsors and prize donors are needed.
