Ross Grange To Begin Afghan Program

Ross Grange will hold a work meeting at 11 a.m. on Monday to assemble Warm Up American afghans. Members participating should take their lunch. The regular grange meeting will be held at 2:30 p.m. Snacks will be provided. A program will follow at 3 p.m.

Community Foundation staff members Bev Lubi, June Diethrick, Sarah Marciniak; Lisa Lynde, program officer, and Randy Sweeney, executive director, presented a program at a recent meeting. They presented information on community groups they are helping including the Yorker Museum, Chautauqua County 4-H Endowment Fund, Jamestown Audubon Society, and the Robert H. Jackson Center.

Discussion was on scholarships given to Sara Culver, Matthew Elderkin, Michael Lanphere and Mikayla Peterson. Stephen Reed, also a scholarship recipient, was a guest speaker. Reed is a graduate of Cassadaga Valley School and is a freshman studying auto mechanics at Alfred State.

Elaine Melquist read a resolution of respect for Neva Carlson. Proceeds from the traveling basket project will be sent to the Capital Improvement Fund for New York State Grange Building. It was voted to give $250 to the Chautauqua County Safety Village. Memorials for Margaret M. Bly, Leon S. Anderson, Sylvia M. Holmquist, Laurene S. Rice and Ms. Carlson, deceased Ross Grange members, will be sent to the New York State Museum.

It was voted to support the 4-H Have A Heart fundraiser dinner on Feb. 17 by donating desserts.
