Salvatore ‘‘Sam’’ Trippi

Salvatore ”Sam” Trippi, 84, of 16 Loretta St., Jamestown, N.Y., passed away Jan. 21, 2013, in WCA Hospital.

He was married June 22, 1952, in Sheffield, Pa., to Elizabeth Gustafson Trippi, who survives him. The couple joyously celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 22, 2012.

Sam was born Feb. 15, 1928, to the late Anthony and Josephine Trippi.

He was a 1946 graduate of Jamestown High School, and in the decades that followed, enjoyed time spent working on class reunion committees.

He served in the Army 18th Artillery Observation Battalion in Korea.

He worked at Steel Partitions, Art Metal, AVM and Jamestown Metal.

Sam was a car enthusiast and always looked forward to attending local car shows. He was an avid Yankees fan, listened to country music – especially Johnny Cash and enjoyed attending Sabres games and the Indy 500 with his sons.

Surviving are his sons: Dr. James (Linda) Trippi, Indianapolis, Ind., and Michael Trippi, Fairfax, Va.; three grandchildren: Brian Trippi, Indianapolis, John Trippi, Iowa City, Iowa, and Kimberly Trippi, Indianapolis; and sisters: Frances Parinella, Jamestown, Loretta Moretti, Williamsville, and Josephine (Steve) Metzger, Phoenix, Ariz.

Sam was preceded in death by sisters: Grace Smith and Christine Conti.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Dana Douglas will officiate.

Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
