Nina LoDestro

Nina LoDestro, 87, of Falconer passed away Sunday (Jan. 20, 2013) in her home.

A lifelong area resident, she was born May 20, 1925, in Falconer, the daughter of the late James and Mary Baldano Gaeta.

Nina was a 1943 graduate of Falconer High School and in earlier years was employed by National Worsted Mills. For most of Nina’s life she was a dedicated homemaker.

She was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church and former member of the church choir. Nina was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She enjoyed cooking for her family and baking cookies, Italian cookies, sponge cakes and homemade pizza. Nina also enjoyed sewing, drawing, shopping, gardening and babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving is her husband, Joseph L. LoDestro, whom she married Sept. 27, 1947, in Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church; two sons: Henry “Hank” LoDestro of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and James J. LoDestro of Palo Alto, Calif.; two daughters: Rosemary Anderson of Marieta, Ga., and Mary Ann (Bob) Morris of Falconer; 10 grandchildren: Gregory (Hope) Anderson, Pamela (Andrew) Sigular, Denise LoDestro, Robert J. (Heather) Morris, Nicholas (Rebecca) LoDestro, Joseph Morris, Megan LoDestro, Daniel LoDestro, Samuel LoDestro and Henry LoDestro; nine great-grandchildren: Makaelynn Graves, Emma, Ella and Joseph Anderson, Mary Beth, Leanne Sigular, Mia, Cole Morris and Macie LoDestro; a brother, Salvatore Gaeta, of Jamestown; and a sister, Nancy Gaeta, of Falconer.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers: Dominic, Frank and Joseph Gaeta; and a sister, Rose Gaeta.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church. The Rev. Joseph Janaczek, pastor of the church, will be celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Friends will be received by the family from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Altar and Rosary Society of OLL will conduct a rosary service at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. A Christian Wake service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
