T-Birds Win Behind Clute’s Double-Double

MAYVILLE -Ian Clute had a double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds as Chautauqua Lake (4-2, 5-6) beat Panama (2-4, 3-7), 52-46, in Division 3 boys basketball on Thursday night.

The game was tied at 23-23 entering the third stanza when the Thunderbirds erupted for a 15-4 quarter to take charge at 38-27.

Cody Thomas helped the winning cause with 15 points and Jordan Briggs grabbed seven rebounds. Thomas also added five steals and A. J. Hulton three assists.

Panama had Alec Blose with 18 points, Dan Odell with 12 and Ricky Eddy with 10.

PVCS WINS AT LINE

FORESTVILLE – The Pine Valley Panthers (2-4, 3-7) benefited from going to the free throw line 24 times in holding off the Forestville Hornets (1-5, 3-8), 48-42.

While Pine Valley was 11 of 24, Forestville was just 2 for 9.

The Panthers jumped out to a 14-9 lead after eight minutes and held a 25-15 halftime edge. The Hornets closed the gap to 32-24 heading into the final frame, but could not overcome the early deficit.

Lucas Trombley led the way for Pine Valley with 20 points, seven rebounds and six steals while Bryce Jay had four points and eight rebounds. Spencer Sticek contributed in the win with eight points and four steals.

Adam Pleva paced Forestville with nine points while Jacob Nosbisch had eight points, seven rebounds, four assists and as many steals in a losing effort.
