Kenneth E. Rasmussen

Kenneth E. Rasmussen, 38, of Route 62, Conewango Valley, passed away Wednesday (Jan. 16, 2013), after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer in Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

A lifelong area resident, he was born Nov. 4, 1974, in Jamestown, the son of Marylee Pangborn Beardsley and Alfred W. Rasmussen.

Ken was a 1992 graduate of Southwestern Central School, and had been employed by Cummins Engine. He was currently employed by Smith Trucking.

He was a member of the Ellington Volunteer Fire Department serving as president and captain. He was a certified EMT and firefighter. Ken’s heart and soul was the fire department, his mission was to help the community the best he could. If anyone needed help, he was there. He loved his family very much, the outdoors, hunting and fishing.

Surviving are his wife Stacey L. Honey Rasmussen, whom he married April 13, 2002, in Kennedy United Methodist Church; two children: Emily and Richard Rasmussen, at home; his mother and stepfather, Marylee and Gilbert Beardsley of Lakewood; his father, Alfred W. Rasmussen of Florida; a sister, Karyl (Jason) McDaniel of Lakewood; his maternal grandmother, Norma Pangborn of W.E., Jamestown; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Cathy and Neal Honey of Kennedy; his aunt, Marilyn Delahoy of Lakewood; his uncle, Allan Pangborn of Iowa; his step grandmother, Kaye Beardsley of Jamestown; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Kenneth E. Pangborn in 2003; his paternal grandparents, Alfred and Alberta Rasmussen; and uncle, Kenneth T. Pangborn.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Rev. Jennifer Delahoy, pastor of Kennedy United Methodist Church, and Pete Dawson, fire service chaplain, will officiate. Burial will be in Kennedy Riverside Cemetery.

Friends will be received by the family from 5-9 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. A firefighters memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, conducted by Pete Dawson, fire service chaplain.
