Edward John “Pops” Postolowski

Edward John “Pops” Postolowski, 86, Fuller Road in Portland, N.Y., passed away on Wednesday evening Jan. 16, 2013, at St. Vincent Health Center in Erie, Pa. after a short illness.

He was born in New York City on Sept. 10, 1926, the son of the late John and Victoria Postolowski.

Ed has been an area resident for the past 63 years. He worked in the steel industry and was a retired steel worker of Al Tech Steel Corp.

He was a World War II veteran having served in the Army in the European African Middle Eastern Campaign, where he received The Good Conduct Medal, The World War II Victory Medal and The American Campaign Medal. He was also a former Brocton police officer and an area grape farmer.

Ed belonged to St. Dominic’s Church of Brocton, N.Y., and was also a member of the American Legion John W Dill Post 434 of Brocton, N.Y.

He is survived by his loving wife Angeline Louise Polisoto Postolowski, whom he married on Feb. 2, 1949; a son, John E. Postolowski of Dunkirk, N.Y.; four grandchildren: Bryan Postolowski, Jennifer Thornton, Kelly Ossman and Kristine Ossman; three great-grandchildren: Adam, Eva and Aubree; a brother, Frank Postolowski of Mahwah, N.J.; and a sister, Stella Balazs of Old Tappan, N.J.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Deborah Ossman, who passed away Nov. 6, 2009; four brothers: Walter, John, George and Daniel; and three sisters: Wanda, Rose and Angie.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 22, at 10 a.m. from St. Dominic’s Roman Catholic Church in Brocton, N.Y., where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Joseph Walter. Interment will follow at the Portland Evergreen Cemetery.
