Name Of Man Killed In Early Morning Accident Released
MINA – The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the driver killed early Thursday morning on Interstate 86 in the town of Mina.
Milton Frank Pertl, 63, of Girard, Pa., was killed after striking the rear of a tractor trailer that had stopped in the driving lane on the Southern Tier Expressway due to a jackknifed truck. Pertl, who was driving a box truck, was pronounced dead by Chautauqua County Coroner John Sixbey.
Police say speed and icy road conditions played a factor in the fatal accident, which occurred just after 3 a.m. in the eastbound lane of I-86. Both lanes were shut down, with the eastbound lane reopening a little after 9 a.m.
