Robert D. Moore

Robert D. Moore, 85, of W.E., Jamestown, formerly of South Main Street Extension, Jamestown, passed away Tuesday (Jan, 15, 2013), in WCA Hospital.

He was born April 7, 1927, in McComb, Ohio, the son of the late David C. and Pearl Schuler Moore.

Bob attended North East High School, and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during World War II from 1944-1946. He was a self-employed truck driver and carpenter, and had owned and operated trailer courts on South Main Street Extension and Garfield Road.

He was a member of the Jamestown Loyal Order of Moose, Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and the Samuel Derby Post 556, American Legion. Bob enjoyed flying airplanes and was proud of his private pilot’s license.

Surviving are his daughter, Linda (Lonzo) Hawkins of Jamestown; a son, William Moore of Sebastian, Fla.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Carol) Moore of Dayton, Ohio; his sister-in-law, Noiam Moore of North Baltimore, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his fist wife, Ruth Moore, who died in 1970; his second wife, Laura I. Seekings Moore, who died in 2005; two brothers: Charles and James Moore; and a sister, Ina Moore.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Rev. Dayle Keefer, pastor of Fluvanna Community Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.

Friends will be received by the family one hour prior to the funeral service Friday in the funeral home.
