Lady T-Birds Keep Record Perfect With Win Over PVCS

MAYVILLE – It’s been a great season for Chautauqua Lake and the good times continued on Tuesday as the Lady Thunderbirds improved to 5-0 in Division 3 and 8-0 overall with a 57-29 victory over Pine Valley (2-3, 4-6) in girls basketball action.

“We played our best defensive game all year,” said Chautauqua Lake coach Eric Schuster.

The Lady Thunderbirds, currently ranked third in Class C in New York State, jumped out to a 26-12 lead after the first half and never looked back.

Jenna Einink had another solid outing with 16 points and had a double-double with 10 rebounds and also made eight steals while Ashton Albanesius and Ashley Moulton each had seven rebounds and Sydney Milliman had six assists.

For the Lady Panthers, Kayleigh Brunswick led the way with nine points and three steals. Alex Bentham added eight points, Kayla Mansfield pulled in six rebounds, Amber Riggs had four boards and Erin Waterman had three steals.

LENART LEADS PANAMA

WESTFIELD – Brittany Lenart had a game-high 14 points, helping Panama (5-4, 4-1) defeat Westfield (4-7, 0-5), 55-20.

The Lady Panthers jumped out to a 13-7 lead after the first quarter before building a 29-10 lead at halftime. In the third quarter, Panama outscored Westfield, 15-2 and 11-7 in the fourth for the 55-20 final.

Allison Strickland chipped in 12 points in the win while Megan Conway and Kelsey Johnson each scored nine. Conway added nine rebounds to go with her nine points, Lenart charted four steals and Carly Abate had five points and four assists.

For the Lady Wolverines, Nina Manzella had a game-high 10 rebounds while Miranda Warner had five points and Carson Hauser four.
