Nostalgia Night Set For Tonight
The fourth Nostalgia Night will be held tonight at 7:30 at the Busti-Lakewood Recreation Center, Lakewood. Roger Gilbert will give the presentation “The Amazing Life of James Jesse Strang.” Sponsored by the Lakewood Museum Committee, admission to the event is free.
CVCS Committee To Meet Jan. 23
SINCLAIRVILLE – The Cassadaga Valley Central School Board of Education has established a committee to analyze the possibility of closing the Cassadaga Elementary School by the start of the 2013-14 school year. Library Sets Winter Hours
STOCKTON – The Mary E. Seymour Memorial Free Library has established winter hours. They are 1-7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 1-5 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The library is closed Wednesday and Sunday.
Stockton Names Lighting Winners
STOCKTON – The town of Stockton has announced winners of the 2012 Christmas Lighting contest. First place went to Linda Morley, 3645 High St., Cassadaga. Second place was Bob and Margie Mckeown-Ozga of 5617 Route 380, Sinclairville. Kevin and Tiffany Lincoln of 5846 Route 380 in Sinclairville won third place. Tom and Sue Zanghi of 214 Dale Drive, Cassadaga took fourth place.
NARFE Chapter To Meet Friday
The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Chapter 267 will meet Friday at Friendly’s Restaurant in Brooklyn Square, Jamestown. The guest speaker will be Richard Brostrom of Liberty Tax Service, who will discuss the 2013 tax filings and changes coming for seniors. The business meeting begins at 11 a.m. with the speaker at 11:30 a.m. All active and retired federal and postal employees are welcome to attend. Flu, Pneumonia Vaccine Available
The VNA will be holding flu and pneumonia vaccination clinics on Friday at the VNA offices, 560 W. Third St., Jamestown, from 1-5 p.m. and Saturday at the Chautauqua Mall from 1-5 p.m. Many insurances cover the vaccinations. The flu shot is $30 and the pneumonia vaccination is $60. Thule Lodge To Meet Saturday
BEMUS POINT – The first meeting of 2013 for the Thule Lodge will be Saturday at the lodge, located at 4123 Pancake Hill Road beginning at 2 p.m. The installation of the new officers will take place, and dates of events for the new year will be the topic of discussion. Following the business meeting and installation of officers, pea soup will be served. This is a Swedish tradition for the new year. New members are always welcome to join the lodge.
