Healthy Bones Group To Meet Jan. 23

Healthy Bones Chautauqua County will meet at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, in the community room of Covenant Manor, 23 W. Third St., Jamestown.

Healthy Bones Chautauqua County is a local exercise program designed using the routines developed by Strongwomen training. Dr. Miriam Nelson, a professor at Tufts University in Boston, developed the training after her research concerning osteoporosis. The strength training curriculum is designed specifically for midlife and older women and has been proven to help to increase strength, bone density, balance and energy. For more information, visit

The program will begin with an informational/registration meeting to introduce and complete the required paperwork. Exercise classes will begin Monday, Feb. 11, at 9 a.m. and continue for 10 weeks meeting each Monday, Wednesday, Tuesday and Friday from 9-10 a.m. The cost is $20 for the 10-week session, and the weights are available for all participants through funding from Chautauqua County Office for the Aging.

More 10-week sessions are being planned, so those unable to participate in the course can watch for new classes to start. New class locations and time slots will be available.

Certified Strongwomen instructors will be conducting the classes. For more information, call Chautauqua County RSVP at 665-8039 or NY Connects at 661-7583, 753-4582 or 363-4582.
