Chautauqua Lake Pulls Out Win In Second Half

SOUTH DAYTON – It was a good battle all night long as Chautauqua Lake traveled to Pine Valley (1-4, 2-7) and when it was over, the Thunderbirds had just a little bit more to earn a hard fought 57-49 win in Division 3 boys basketball.

Both teams played evenly and ended the half tied at 23-23, but Chautauqua Lake played solid man-to-man defense to gain a four-point lead after the third quarter and increased that by another four in the final period.

Ian Clute was the top shooter for the winners, pouring in 17 points and earning a double-double with 17 rebounds. Cody Thomas and Carter Davidson each added 14 points and A.J. Hulton had 11.

Lucas Trombley led Pine Valley with 19 points, Spencer Sticek netted 14 points and Bryce Jay had 10 points and completed the double-double with 19 rebounds and Jake Wilcox contributed eight rebounds.

COE LEAD WESTFIELD

PANAMA – Jon Coe was silent in the first half, but in the second half he was red hot for Westfield (5-0, 7-4).

Coe, who had only two points in the first 16 minutes, scored 17 points after intermission as the Wolverines used a second-half attack to beat Panama (2-2, 3-6), 76-48.

Panama only trailed Westfield, 27-25 at halftime but in the second half the Wolverines exploded for 50-21 advantage. Tanner Dahl had three 3-pointers.

Dahl wound up with 17 points and Dan DeMarco 13 points for the winners. Dan Tofil grabbed 11 rebounds and Jake Gray six as the teams each had 31 rebounds.

Dan Odell had 14 points and Alec Blose 11 for Panama. Blose had seven rebounds and five assists.
