Camille K. Buchanan

RANDOLPH, N.Y. – Camille K. Buchanan, 82, of Jamestown Street, Randolph, N.Y., passed away Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, in WCA Hospital.

She was born April 22, 1930, in Salamanca, N.Y., the daughter of the late Robert and Leola (Quakenbush) Remington.

Camille was a 1949 graduate of Randolph Central School. She retired from the Randolph Union Free School District, where she was a teacher’s aide. In earlier years, she had been a cafeteria and study hall monitor at Randolph Central. Camille also was a homemaker and cleaned in many area homes.

Her memberships included St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Randolph and its Altar & Rosary Society, Randolph American Legion Unit 181 Women’s Auxiliary and a charter member of the Randolph Historical Society. She enjoyed traveling by car and bus trips, as well as spending time with her family, boating on the lake or doing script crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her three children: Mary Ellen Johnson and husband, David, of Conewango Valley, Beth Trass of Olean and John Michael “Bucky” Buchanan of Randolph; 10 grandchildren: Josh and Shawn Hoffman, Andrew, Sam and Nicholas Trass, Vanessa Johnson, Anna Ezzolo, Erin Hudak and Elliott and Sam Johnson, a brother; David Remington and wife, Alberta, of Lakewood, N.Y.; and sister-in-law; Abigail Remington of Virginia Beach. She was preceded by her husband. John C. Buchanan, whom she married April 14, 1956, and who preceded her on Nov. 26, 1991; and a brother, Robert Remington.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 15, 2013), in the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph, NY 14772.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Randolph St. Patrick’s Church, with the Rev. Joseph Janaczek as celebrant. Burial will be in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Randolph.
