Fredonia Wrestlers Place Second At Lockport

LOCKPORT – Four wrestlers won crowns and a fifth came in second for Fredonia in the Lockport Boosters/Sunrise Optimists Tournament on Saturday.

Dakota Gardner, Tyler Cassidy, Zach Buckley and Christian Saden were the champions while Jude Gardner was second as Fredonia placed second with 164 points.

Clarence took the 21-team event with 224 points, Pittsford finished third with 147 points, Lockport fourth with 139 points and Lewiston-Porter fifth with 131 points.

Dakota Gardner took the 126-pound title with a 7-0 victory over Brandon Glauber of Clarence and Cassidy was the 132-pound champion by edging Ryan Kromer of Lewiston-Porter, 1-0.

Buckley pinned Rob Klotz of Pittsford in 3:18 to win at 170 pounds and Saden received a medical forfeit against Marshall Taylor of Lockport to capture the 220-pound title.

Jude Gardner lost the 145-pound title by being pinned in 4:31 by Drew Hull of Royalton-Hartland, who was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler.

Giovanni Ruiz grabbed third place for Fredonia by decisioning Jon Lauricella of LeRoy from Section 5, 6-3, at 106 pounds.

Rion Elson of Starpoint gained the aggregate pin award by having five pins in 5:19 in winning at 285 pounds.
