JHS Boys, Girls Bowling Teams Prevail At JBC
Southwestern and Jamestown battled it out at Jamestown Bowling Company on Wednesday and the Red Raiders came away with a 3-1 win to improve to 21-11 for the season in Division 1 high school bowling.
JHS posted a 728-965-855-2,548 team total while the Trojans spilled 899-760-694-2,353.
Leading the scoring for the Red Raiders was Eddie Merwick, who rolled 237-535. Brandon Propheter followed that with 194-522 and Brent Miller had 212-511.
Taylor West had the top score of the day for Southwestern (21-11), shooting 224-219-601 and Blake Schrope hit 199-507.
The Jamestown girls also had a successful outing with a 4-0 sweep, firing a linescore of 719-771-698-2,180 and the Lady Trojans produced 624-606-646-1,876.
Morgan Melquist led JHS with 506, Sapphire Dean added 191-502 and Andraya Vazquez tossed 476.
For Southwestern (10-22), Amanda Stewart fired a 180-502 and Shelby Kalfas shot 444.
MANZELLA PACES DUNKIRK
FREDONIA – Brady Manzella rolled 227-176-218-621 for Dunkirk as the Marauders posted a 4-0 sweep of Fredonia at Lucky Lanes.
Dunkirk (19-13) posted 883-862-868 for a 2,613 team total while the Hillbillies (11-21) tossed 759-830-704-2,293.
Joining Manzella were Alex Kubera with 204 and 192, Brandon Haase had 212 and Peter Kubera shot 188.
The high rollers for the Fredonia boys were Jeff Rowe with a 197, Collin Schanzlin had a 183 and Nate Wojtkowiak rolled 182
In the girls match, the Lady Hillbillies (25-7) earned a 3-1 victory, shooting a linescore of 824-719-764-2,307 to Dunkirk’s 741-739-744-2,224.
Leading the way for Dunkirk (15-17) was Hannah Schnur with a 233-202-588. Caitlyn Chase had a 187-195-549.
For Fredonia, Genna Riddle delivered a 182-194-541 and Elizabeth Valvo shot 194 and 176.
FALCONER – Both the Gowanda boys and girls teams were victorious as they battled Falconer at Jamestown Bowling Company.
The Panthers improved to 22-10 for the season with a 4-0 sweep, posting a 753-901-900-2,554 while the Golden Falcons rolled 704-732-762-2,198.
Gowanda’s top shooter was Jordan Schindler with games of 213 and 199. Eric Chimino shot 219 and Jake Ivett had 189.
Trystin Lede hit 176 for Falconer.
It was the same story for the Gowanda girls, who connected for a 4-0 sweep with games of 687-614-678-1,979 while the Lady Golden Falcons produced 669-612-537-1,818.
Brittany Stelley led Gowanda with 167-478 and Malyssa Farely had a 213 single.
Stephanie Crick spilled 189-453 and Jessica Zdunski shot 157 for Falconer
BROCTON TOPS BEARS
FREWSBURG – Brocton’s visit to Frewsburg was a successful one as the Bulldogs swept the host team, 4-0, at Frewsburg Lanes.
Brocton’s linescore was 721-790-798-2,309 while Frewsburg posted 560-718-602-1,878.
The top shooter for Brocton was Patrick Bigelow with 172-506.
Caleb Terhune led the Bears with a 167 single.
MAYVILLE – It was all Forestville as both the boys and girls teams produced sweeps to defeat Chautauqua Lake.
The Hornets improved to 20-10 with a 862-793-778-2,433 team score while the Thunderbirds (0-40) connected for 507-475-479-1,461.
Ryan Forbes topped Forestville with 216-189-554, John Murphy added 211-178-537, Phil Narraway had a 196 and Brad Dillenberg a 187.
Matt Petrucha led CLCS with a 151 game.
As for the girls, the Lady Hornets (26-2) cruised to a 4-0 win with a linescore of 590-581-501-1,672 and Chautauqua Lake (5-31) rolled 505-467-484-1,456.
For the winners, Emily Dillenberg drilled a 168-169-172-509, Sarah Pleva had games of 171 and 164 and Emily Narraway shot 160.
Heather Sullivan led the Lady Thunderbirds with 180-151-476 and Emily Paulus tossed a 141 game.
