Hamilton Nets 30 Points In Ellicottville’s Win At Clymer

CLYMER – Poor shooting when it mattered most doomed the Clymer Lady Pirates on Wednesday.

Clymer, which got off to a slow start but had battled back to knot its Division 4 contest with Ellicottville, 43-43, by the end of three quarters, hit just 22 percent (4 of 18) of its shots from the field in the final period on the way to a 63-55 setback.

Over that same eight-minute span, meanwhile, Ellicottville connected on 59 percent of its shots (10 of 17) to outscore the hosts, 20-12.

It was the first league defeat for the Lady Pirates this season, dropping them to 3-1 in Division 4 play and 7-2 overall.

Janae Hamilton led the way for the winners, tallying a game-high 30 points, including 10 in the last period, while Madison Szpaicher followed with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

For Clymer, Dani Reinwald hit 20 points and hauled in 17 rebounds, Jo-Linda Rhodes knocked down a pair of triples for 13 points to go along with four assists and Carly McAfoose chipped in with 11 points.

Clymer is back in action for another crucial Division 4 matchup when it travels to undefeated Sherman on Tuesday.
