Upper New York Episcopal Bishop To Visit BPUMC
Bemus Point United Methodist Church will welcome Bishop Mark J. Webb on Sunday. He will serve as guest preacher in the two contemporary services at 8:30 and 10 a.m., as well as the traditional service offered at 11 a.m. As spiritual and temporal leader of the Upper New York Area Annual Conference, his message will affirm and enhance the connectional outreach and mission of the United Methodist Church.
At the 2012 Northeastern Jurisdictional Conference, Bishop Mark J. Webb was assigned to serve as the Episcopal leader of the Upper New York Area effective Sept. 1, 2012.
Bishop Webb holds a Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary and a bachelor’s from Shippensburg University. In 2007, he became District Superintendent of the York District of the Susquehanna Conference after serving pastorates in Mechanicsburg, Wormleysburg, and Linglestown, Pa. Bishop Webb was also a delegate to General and Jurisdictional Conference in 2004, 2008 and 2012.
As a consultant in the areas of congregational development, leadership development, stewardship, and small groups, Bishop Webb encourages working together to develop strategies and outcomes that will bear fruit. He has a passion for ensuring congregations stay vital and fulfill the mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ. As a district superintendent, he aligned resources and initiated strategies for greater effectiveness in the areas of leadership development, church revitalization and new church starts.
Bishop Webb is a native of Williamsport, Pa., and is married to Jodi Webb. They have two sons: Tyler, who is attending Grove City College and Benjamin, a sophomore in Baldwinsville.
