JHS Bowlers Sweep Dunkirk

FREDONIA – Morgan Melquist was the bowling standout for the Jamestown girls in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus League Division 1 action on Monday afternoon at Lucky Lanes.

Melquist rolled a 244-210-177-631 to lead Jamestown past Dunkirk, 4-0, with a pinfall of 811-751-735-2,297 compared to Dunkirk with 653-647-700-2,000.

Andraya Vasquez hit a 156-156-174-486, Brittany Miller a 153, Michelle Wiltsie a 143 and a 146, Sapphire Dean a 137 and Peyton Turner a 131 for Jamestown.

For Dunkirk, Cartlan Chase put together a 137-144-159-440, Danielle Dean a 156-420, Mallory Wojcinski a 162, Adrianna Pencek a 151 and Katie Michalski a 147.

The Jamestown boys raised their record to 18-10 by prevailing over Dunkirk, 3-1, with a pinfall of 907-889-848-2,644. Dunkirk had games of 757-960-806-2,523.

Brandon Propheter spun a 174-208-175-557, Eddie Merwick a 203-182-160-545 and Chris Edens a 201-169-174-544 while Brett Miller had a 172 for Jamestown.

Alex Kubera led Dunkirk with 181-185-212-578 followed by Peter Kubera with a 154-214-158-526, Dale Lombardo with a 201, Casey Surma a 194 and Brayden Manzella a 169 and a 166.


CUTTING -Clymer recorded a 4-0 Division 2 win in boys competition and a 3-1 victory in girls over Chautauqua Lake at Cutting Lanes.

David Applebee shot a 497 and Austin Cramer a 422 as the Clymer boys (11-29) drilled a 692-695-634-2,040 while CL floored a 515-451-528-1,494.

Matt Petrucha rolled a 370 and Danielle Harkey a 354 for CL (0-36).

Clymer girls blasted a 539-539-449-1,522 while Chautauqua Lake managed a 485-482-521-1,488 as both teams have identical 5-27 records.

Jenelle Ingalls spilled a 475 and Arleigh Bemis a 386 for Clymer. Heather Sullivan fired a 470 and Emily Paulus a 400 for CL.


FREDONIA – Both the Fredonia boys and girls teams came up with victories on Monday at Lucky Lanes as they took on Gowanda in Division 1.

The Hillbillies (11-17) were 3-1 winners, totaling 818-887-828-2,533 while the Panthers (18-10) shot a 748-785-901-2,434 team score.

Leading Fredonia’s scoring was Ricky Burgstrom with 191-202-537, Travis Langworthy shot 188, Nate Wojtkowiak had 183 and Jake Szymczak hit a 180.

For Gowanda, Justin Grim had a big day with 195-193-269-657 and Jarrod Krajewski rolled 180.

The Lady Hillbillies improved to 22-6 with a 4-0 sweep, rolling 817-917-805-2,539 to Gowanda’s 671-776-670-2,117.

Maitland Langworthy led the team with 213-171-212-596, Genna Riddle rolled 218-175-548, Marionna Wiltsie had 170 and 182, Elizabeth Valvo hit 174 and Taryn Wojtkowiak tossed a 172.

For Gowanda (18-10), Malyssa Farley delivered a 177-174-469, Britanee Stelley had 177 and Danielle Lesefske shot 170.
