Ferguson Leads Brocton To Overtime Victory

CLYMER – Dan Ferguson made a field goal and two free throws in overtime as Brocton, which has only one league loss, edged Clymer (2-1, 6-3), 52-50, in Division 4 boys basketball on Monday night.

Ferguson sank his final shot with 10.1 seconds left and Clymer came down and was fouled with .1 seconds remaning. The Pirates missed the first shot and also missed the second internationally with hope of getting a miracle rebound and put back which didn’t happen.

Foul shooting was the story of the game with Brocton canning 17 of 27 and Clymer was a horrible 5 of 24 for under 30 percent.

The Pirates tied it at 48-48 when Matt DeStevens hit his only 3-pointer with only 17 seconds left in regulation. Brocton had a couple contested shots at the end that failed to drop.

Ferguson wound up with 24 points with 6 of 10 from the foul line for the Bulldogs, Jordan Patterson had 12 points and Anthony Riforgiato 11 points with 7 of- 11 from the foul stripe.

Rebounding saw the visitors take a 35-31 advantage with Anthony Riforgiato having 10. Dan Lictus had the same total of Clymer.

Lictus led Clymer with 17 points, Mitch Einink with 12 and Jake Wiggers with nine points.
