BROOKS LEADS SCCS

SILVER CREEK – Jordan Brooks scored 18 of her game-high 20 points in the second half leading the Silver Creek Black Knights (2-1, 4-3) past the Cassadaga Valley Lady Cougars (1-2, 3-5), 37-29.

Both teams battled to a 9-all deadlock after eight minutes and then were tied 12-12 at halftime.

Brooks scored only two points in the first half as she was plagued with early foul trouble.

“She played tentative after getting two quick fouls,” Silver Creek coach Tammy Rice said. “It was hard for her to get into the flow of the game. In the second half she was ready to go.”

In the second half, she found her rhythm with 18 points. She also finished with six rebounds and four blocks. The home team outscored the Lady Cougars, 12-10 in the third quarter and 13-7 in the final stanza to pull away with the victory.

Jade Lewis also had an all-around solid performance for the winners as she scored 11 points, dished out seven assists and as many steals.

“She played a phenomenal game, creating offense,” Rice said. “She had several nice passes down to Marissa Donovan and Brooks at the block. She had a really good game.”

Jessie Burch and Shawana Miller each scored 10 points for the Lady Cougars. Miller added four rebounds while Kristi Zink pulled down eight boards.
