Editor’s Note

January isn’t the most popular month. The holiday excitement is over. For many people, it’s time to get back to the grind.

Others have made resolutions that will hopefully help them have a better year in 2013. I used to make resolutions. Unfortunately, I found I had forgotten what they were by Feb. 1.

I’m sure it’s a busy month at gyms and libraries. I’d return to college each January to find a line at treadmills that were hardly used in December.

Then I’d have to wander through the library to find a place to sit. I’d hear a lot of students say, “I’m going to get in shape this semester,” or, “I’m going to study hard and make the Dean’s List.”

Thankfully for me, the gym cleared out after a couple of weeks. It was the same story for the library – until about a week before finals. Then, it became a free for all.

Don’t get me wrong; I’m not rooting against anyone who made a resolution this year. However, as a selfish college student, I wanted the gym and library to go back to the way they were in the fall semester. Now I don’t go to either of those places, so the resolution season doesn’t really affect me.

According to a quick Google search, many Americans are looking to get organized, save money, learn new things and quit smoking in 2013.

Along with getting in shape and studying harder, those seem like fine resolution ideas to me.

I don’t smoke, I save money and I learn plenty of new things at work. It wouldn’t hurt me to get a little more organized, though.

I’ve got a box filled with important paperwork that I need to file at home.

And at work, I still have notebooks from 2011 stored in my former desk, which now belongs to Dusten Rader. There’s a strong possibility that those notes will not come in handy again.

I think I just came up with a resolution while writing this.

Maybe I’ll get more organized in 2013. Hopefully someone will remind me of that next month.
